PICS - My Box Turtle Laying Eggs!

PATMAN Nov 13, 2006 12:13 PM

Check out these pictures I took today!

I've been keeping turtles for over 20 years and this is the very first time I've actually seen eggs being laid! What makes this even more special is that the eggs were laid by my female 3 toed box turtle "Clyde" who I've had her for over 22 years now! She was my very first pet turtle that I bought back in 1984!

Unfortunately she has never given me fertile eggs. But you never know! So I put the 4 eggs she laid today in the incubator just in case!

Great pis Pat! Man, that Triunguis looks like she has some years on her! Is she kept with a male? They rarely retain sperm for more than a few years, sometimes five. Hey you never know, parthenogenesis works in strange ways ~ just not usually with egg layers. Great pics Thanks, Leo

Great shots Patrick!

Thanks for the previews.

I'll have to get some of my nest building pics up.

I think the last one is due to hatch.

I always enjoy your pics.
