Water Monitor Diet

redbeard92 Nov 13, 2006 09:07 PM

Hi,

I have a hatchling water monitor that appears to be a somewhat picky eater. He won't touch pinkies and will ignore 'can of crickets' He was eating a few dusted crickets daily but was looking somewhat thin in body (but fairly full at the tail base). I tried Super Worms about a week ago and he loves them and has become fairly thick in the midsection as well.

Are vitamin dusted superworms a decent food source at this age? I'm still offering the other foods daily, but its the worms that he is filling up on.

Rob

Feed him live crickets and lots of them several times a week. I also offer hatchlings pinkies at the same time. I place a pinkie or two in the enclosure and have crickets in there at almost all times.
