da hizzouse
because there is no danger to the snake and the rat suffers less

To many little critters list
90 % of our collection gets PK for a few reasons one being we breed our own rats. Some take live but only if they dont eat pre-killed. We feel the animal is fresher when PK. I have had "experiences" with FT and no longer use them in our collection unless purchased from a close friend or if they are animals that we ourselves have frozen.. Plus pre killed is 1k times easier for us then FT, no de-frosting or re-heating over and over becuase our feeding days normally last just that all day..lol. And you also dont have to worry about the snake being hurt since the animal is knocked out
Just my 2 cents..
whats your method of pre-killing? thanks.

I prefer to let someone else deal with the smell of a rodent colony LOL. I'd rather spend a little more time thawing and less time dealing with the rodents for snakes that don't eat. Some of the snakes I have that eat live but are not eating this week will still nail the rat a couple times, then you got a scared rat that bites. I don't mind being bitten by a snake...but not really into rat bites LOL.

I feed live and F/T. I prefer live mice, but my landlord has issues with rats as live feeders. So generally I feed FT rats, and live mice. My female only eats already dead rats, so FT is easiest for me to feed. my male is a super awesome eater when given a live mouse, once he is all psycho from catching the first one, he will eat just about anything that smells like a mouse. He will occasionally accept FT without the live first, but he can get pretty picky.
Mine seem to take a lot more meals when I feed live...so I only feed live now...

when life hands you lemons, make super lemons, bumblebees, etc...
I feed live when I have to - for picky eaters, and I tend to feed mice or very small rats if they are live, no matter how many are needed to make the meal... I just supervise, and offer one at a time.
I feed pre-killed when the picky snake gets scared by the live prey (grrr) - or when I couldn't get a small enough rat that I am willing to risk offering it live.
I feed thawed prey whenever I can; when I don't have supply problems, and/or my husband hasn't accidentally left all of my bags of frozen rodents out overnight because he was moving stuff around in the freezer (aaaaaa!).
Cheers!
