pied spider question

johnavilla Nov 14, 2006 11:43 AM

seems to be a lot of people saying that the spider gene does something wierd to the pied gene resulting in a 99% white snake. How many spieders have been produced? Anywhere near enough to make this claim? If so show me pics of spieders that aren't the original or direct me to them. Thanks.

I think Steve produced 2 or 3 of them - and they were all mostly white. No - certainly not enough for anything but speculation at this point.

My theory is that since pieds wipe out the pattern in normals - it will eliminate the pattern altogether in the pattern morphs and leave a white snake with a normal head (or normal for that morph). But what the heck do I know bout this stuff - zero zip nada - it's all speculation. I'd be interested to see the pied offspring from say a blackback or other aberrantly pattern normal.

Anyway - you can check out the Roussis Reptiles link at the top of the forum for picts and info.

Three is enough for speculation but that's about it. It seems to me that pied only modifies the pattern though. Makes it squigly. Do you think a pied clown would come out that way?
