when should male and emale be seperated?

riddick13 Nov 14, 2006 05:02 PM

I've had my hypo male locked up with my normal female for a couple weeks now. For the last couple days the seem not to be interested in each other. I'm not in a rush to move him but I do have another female I would like him to try to breed. I know the season is long and I have plenty of time but just wondering if I should move the male to the other females cage and see what happens( she won't eat for the first time in i don't know how long) then put him back with the first female. Any advise would be great. thanks in advance.

Have you seen any ovulation swell in the female yet ?, i would give them at least a week without and activity ,and make sure the male isnt coming into a shed
i have a male sharp albino thats been breeding a salmon hypo , when i put them together he was all over her for a fortnight , then he just stopped ,a few days later i noticed he was coming into a shed , so no "action " for about 2 weeks , now he has shed he is all over the female again

the hypo just shed 3 days ago. the female has not ate in about a month and she was a heavy eater. she looks like she has not lost any weight but i can not be totally sure about the swelling. my wife says the female looks a little swollen buy the tail(vent area) and mid body but i can't say for sure. she's always been fat lol . The snake that is not my wife. lol thanks for the reply

male in with the pair. Don't seperate them now. The most common mistake of breeding I would say is pulling the male out too early, producing lots of slugs.
