American Alligator questions

Am_Ally_Soby Nov 14, 2006 06:04 PM

I see all of these questions for Nile's and such, but I have a question about my Am. Alligator.

My hatchling is only about 6in from snout to tail, and I was wondering how fast he will grow. I feed him three times a week, and leave guppies in there for him to eat. I've heard all kinds of answers, but I thought another captive-bred Ally owner might be able to help me! Thank you!

American Alligators grow about 1 - 1.5 feet for the first 7 years, I have a yearling thats about 18 inches on the dot.
Hope this helps

Just to clarify that we are talking 1-1.5' per year.

Thank you very much! That's about what I read. My baby's got a while to go, I just wanted to make sure what was healthy!
