Just when I thought I got out of eastern

It looks like you never really get away from them! I just acquired a HUMONGOUS 16 year old wild caught female couperi from Zoo Atlanta (thanks Brad!). It is my hope to introduce some brand new bloodlines into our limited captive gene pool (Eric, drop me an email). The big question is whether or not an old female can still produce but she has excellent weight, muscle tone and seems to be the picture of good health. Keeping my fingers crossed.....I'll be holding on to the hatchlings and Zoo Atlanta will get half if she produces. I also acquired another virgin adult female; sheesh, I better start firing up the scented candles!

And great job getting that snake. Good luck with breeding her, it would be fantastic to add her genes to the captive pool.

Great News, Rob,

I managed to acquire 2.2 unrelated F1 specimens from zoological sources, but one pair is another year away from breeding age, while the second pair is two years away.
Good luck with her, as I am not aware of anyone who has incurred successful reproduction with a female that old, though I do know of a male that successfully sired a a clutch at 20 years of age...

Again, best of luck to you,

Jeff

Congratulations Rob,
I'm glad such an animal went to someone who can treat such a great gift responsibly.
Its especially nice to see someone back around who really deeply cares about the species and has enough knowledge to actualize that sentiment.
I would really love to be on your list by the way.
Again Congratulations!
Matt

By the bye, I've been itching to come out and visit the wild life center again. Is there a particularly good day of the week to drop in and say hi?
