OT - Community/Rescue Terrarium

BillyBoy Nov 14, 2006 07:27 PM

Just wanted to share our little community/rescue terrarium. It started out with just two hermit crabs (even with several of her own snakes, my 8 yr old daughter still wanted hermies), but soon there entered the northern curly tail you see basking as well as three tiny hatchling house geckos. The curly tail I found in my pool scupper and thought he was dead (fairly common for them to drown in my pool ), but when I picked him up, he took one little breath, so I decided, what the hey and put him in the crab terrarium. A few hours later, he was all perked up and doing fine. The little geckos were scooped up by my wife in the house (also very common here in South FL) even before the crabs came into the house and were living in a converted fish bowl for a week. When the crabs' terrarium was set up, we decided the geckos could move in there as well. Anyway, it's been kind of a fun little project and it's been interesting to watch all three different species interacting in the same space. Just a little something different....

That is an awesome looking terrarium!
It looks like a lot of fun..
I'm envious of people living in Florida. Soo many herp species to see outside. I would be in heaven. Feild collecting is my favorite thing to do.
Up here in northern Minnesota, there are very few herps comparatively. Well, there are a bunch really, but I'm used to them!
Have you ever run across an Indigo?
