theandrew Nov 14, 2006 08:59 PM

im pretty much sure my little girl is develpoing some type of respritory infection. I noticed a popping/weezing noise she was making as i prodded her lightly with a hook.
Im calling the vet tomorrow and raised temps to around 90-92 F.

any thoughts would be appreciated

Any mouth gaping or head pointed upward? She could be nearing shed. Mine tend to make wheezing noises and sound like an RI just before shed and if it was a dry shed, sometimes after. Hope she's o.k.

I dont know how long you have had her. You do realize that they huff when thry ae being bothered? Is there any discharge coming out, bubbles? What temps where you keeping her at? CB,WC,Farmed? I thought the same with my first GTP but there was nothing really there.

she is nearing shed in the "opaque" phase. She is of course CB if you noticed my signature, i moved her into a shoebox rubbermaid with one perch and a heat pad underneath with like 60- 70 % humidity and 90-92 degree temps.

If she's perching in the normal position, I'd be inclined to believe that she is nearing shed. Mine had a bad shed and afterward I could hear him whistling when he breathed.....gave me a hard attack, but after bumping up the humidity again, he evidently removed the piece that was on his nose and everything was normal.

everythings the same normal perch posture. just the little squeeks. ill give her a few days to run through shed and if it persists for more than a few days after ill call the vet. also she shows no bubbling at the nostrils nor is she producing sticky saliva.

Higher temps can do as much damage as low temps. Extremes on either end can weaken the immune system and cause RI....whether it's 65* or 90*. Use the natural temps(72-86) and you should be fine. It sounds to me like a shed cycle. Good luck.
