Not a leo, but close enough - AFT question

LauraV Aug 07, 2003 12:07 PM

I'm a wee bit concerned. I have four females housed together, ranging from 33g. to 46g. My 3rd largest looks to have two eggs in her at only 39g. I'm sure if introduced to a male they would reproduce, even that small (don't reccomend it), but if there is no male, isn't she a bit too small to begin laying eggs on her own? When she moves from side to side, you can actually see two large masses sticking out of either side of her - hard to imagine it being anything but eggs.
If need be, I will take pics of everyone's vent area and her egg belly.
thanks for any help you can give.

Sorry for asking on this site, but I don't frequent the other site, so I'm hoping those I am more familiar with can help.

Thanks!

I don't know too much about AFT's but I would say if she developed them on her own she should be able to lay them. When they lay the eggs actually come out really soft and then harden later.

If she did develope them on her own, then she should be able to lay them with no problems, you wouldnt think an animal would develope eggs to early and kill itself. Are you totally sure all the females really are females? Thats the only other thing i can think of. Good luck,
Mac

You are welcome to take a look at the vent area of all 4 females. (I wishe one was a male - then my long search for a male would be over!! - Groan)

Actual weights are 27g-46g.

I believe them to all be girls. i just didn't want to have to worry about egg binding in a 39g. FT.
Apparently, she thinks she's ready, even if I don't )

It's harder to see the eggs in the FT than my Leos (through the tummy skin)
