Why?

I know that they both need to get a little bigger but i was asking how big the female rock should get because this is my first rock and I thought that they would have different size recomendations before breeding.
Most of the rock python's even if it's African, Burm, Indian or Sri-laken should all be over 12 feet in length and of good body weight.
But why create a hybrid ?
Why can't people just leave playing God alone and just keep the species for what they are and enjoy!!!!!!
Ever seen highendherps hybrids? Besides, if it can happen, it is god's will...
We've seen Highends hybrids, and yes they are beautiful, but if it were Gods will they would have access to one another in the wild
It took mans interference to make it happen. JMHO

Again, nothing is possible unless god wants it to happen. The situation where the hybrid, clone, stem cell, etc. emerges is irrelavent. Do you realize how many things have to fall into place for it even to be possible? Besides the obvious physical and behavior similarities it requires to make a hybrid, you have to consider chromosone number differences, internal chem. differences, sperm enzyme differences, chemical signal differences, and immune system differences in response to foreign body( like sperm), to name a few things. It is far from "lets put animal A, with animal B, to get animal C". The two species have to be VERY similar for their offspring not only to be produced, but GREATLY similar for their offspring not to be sterile. I beleive highendherps are not sterile. Playing god would be something like breeding a chicken to a gecko, or a giraffe and a snail. It is commonly beleived that all dogs decended from a wolf-like species, and dogs and wolves are known to interbreed. Saying that without mankinds hand they would not exist is incorrect.
I agree, there's much more involved with hybrids than simply putting two snakes together and winding up with viable young. Even the hybrids we have now come from as many failures as sucesses. It's certainly not cut and dry.
As to the dog/wolf crosses, these happen in nature because they are commonly found in the same geographic vicinity making that cross fairly easy to happen, yes? Most of the snakes in question come from different areas of the world, so are aren't likely to meet in the wild. Just my thoughts.

Yes, most of the snakes are seperated geographicly, but not by evolution. Who's to say if a burm could or could not hide away inside a plane to a region where retics are promanent and breed with a retic and make bateaters, for all we know it happens consistantly. Basicly, nature finds a way. What if a globel quake causes the contenents to merge to a point where these species merge? Whether or not man accelerates the proccess is a moot point. They exist because they do, not because mankind sprinkled it's "magic" dust upon them. Ligers, Mules, or bateaters exist because they can, not because they asked permission and got it.
i wouldn't breed her till ten foot..i didn't breed my female burm till 11 foot 40 lbs..jmo
