Non-eater, patience, & security=Eater!!

maxrr Nov 15, 2006 11:24 AM

Just wanted to share that two of my non-eaters (hatched Aug 02, 2006) ate for the first time on their own last night! Man, that feels good! The only thing I changed is, I moved them from shoeboxes to a hatchling rack with small tubs (6x6x1.5). I guess security really works...

Congratulations. That is indeed a good feeling. The yellow keeper I posted below just ate for the first time yesterday also.

Ken,

Yes, I definitely agree!!!! Thanks for your comments regarding my earlier photo posts...I always enjoy seeing other thayeri varieties from other folks...

On the down side...I never seem to have enough money for more thayeri's...Ha! Ha!

Max,

Very nice leonis...I see that you have 0.1 Western Massasauga (WC)...if you ever are in the Columbia, SC area in November...check out the reptile show...I went this year and about half of the show is venomous reptiles...

Saw several breeders there with all types of venomous snakes including eastern and western species of rattlesnakes (including Massasaugas), copperheads (locale varieties), cottonmouths, etc. It even included large vipers (such as the Rhinoceros and Gabon Vipers) and cobras...

These photos were some highlights...anerythristic and dark (Forida locale) Pigmy Rattlesnakes

Jim,

Unfortunately, I'm never anywhere near SC...it's too bad, because I'd love to go to that show...Venomous are hard to come by. I just have to rely on finding them myself. Nice pygmies, BTW...Sistrurus are my favorites!

cool to hear about massasaugas. Spending the first 30 years of my life in Kalamazoo, MI, the Masseys were the only venemous species around. very small and dark up north.

strange for me to think of these as "available" in the trade now.
