Dropping Temps.

AndrewFromSoCal Nov 15, 2006 12:49 PM

Last night was exceptionally cold here in Southern California, so I figured i'd check the heat of my leo's and corn's cages. The corns, who had a light on all day, were at a toasty 82 degrees. However, my leo's cage, who only has a heat pad and runs off the light from the snakes and ambience from outside, was at 74 degrees on the cold side. Is there a way to make the heat pad any warmer? Should I get a light? I'm not entirely sure how I can raise his cage heat, as the windows are closed and the door shut at all times. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What was the temp on the hot side? 74 on the cool side is not that bad as long as there is a warmer area to use for thermoregulation. My cool sides right now are between 75-78, and I am certain that they will be cooler than that come mid January here in northern Ohio.

On a side note, is your corn snake at 82 on the warm or cool side? If it's the cool side then that is a little too high.

I'm trying to fix their cages right now, I didn't know anything when I go the snakes (frosh year of HS) and I can't get their heat pads off the center of the cage.

I really need a temp gun.

If you can't remove them, unplug them and make new heating pads.
