would like to know how to care for scarlet snakes hopefully i ll find another one in florida

Dan is the expert, so look back in the archives (use the search function at the top of the web page) for past posts about scarlet snake husbandry from oxyrhopus. I'm currently keeping one in an unheated sweater box on 2 inches of cypress mulch with a corner of the box with damp sphagnum moss and with no water.
She has not been eating well voluntarily, so I've resorted to the dunking method for my female, in which you mix up an egg and water mixture (about half and half) in a jar and put the snake in. Since she's had no water, she drinks and gets the nutrition from the mix. I hope to switch her soon to drinking egg from a cup, and from there to solid foods scented with egg.
