mealworms-beetles

marcelpb Nov 16, 2006 04:51 PM

Hi,
Im feeding my baby dragon with crickets and mealworms.
But some of the mealworms are becoming beetles.
Can I feed these to my dragon that is about 5 inches?
Thanks to all!

as the shell is eaier to digest, especially for such a small beardie.

My male loves them.

I fed him giant mealworms for the first time last nighT and he went mad for them too. MUNCH MUNCH!!!

mealworms are not a good food for bearded dragons who are only 5". Too much chance to cause impactions due to the hard exoskeletons. I would also not recommend feeding alot of the beetles.

I have seen impaction from the carapace - the hard shell that covers the wings.

You might want to remove the carapace before allowing him to eat beetles.
