Handling.

I'm thinking of driving down to the next show and picking up a Blood. I've been handling my friends larger Borneo and it's simply amazing. The only thing that concerns me is handling them as youngsters. My friend said he sort of had to cup his snake in his hands and sort of just let it do it's thing. He had to wait a LONG time for it to be able to coil itself around his hand and whatnot. Is this true for all little one's?

I plan on picking up a black blood from this show ( if they have them ) and once the weather breaks one of WHATEVER Ash has in stock.

Youngsters are the times when I would say if you are getting things from babies and raising them up, this is when you can go through a lot of their attitudes.

Its all quite normal though for babies to be nippy and a bit testy, especially about being handled. You would be wigging out too if some big old thing was grabbing at you, all they are thinking is its bigger and coming at me, its going to harm me or something like that. They aren't wrong for having that mentality you know.

Some babies however can come out with attitudes and be ones that need more work, and I have hatched out, and on another note gotten other babies that were just calm animals from the get go.

An important aspect to keeping bloods and stp's though I would say on the keepers part is definately learning how to interact with them and when, because as with most things you keep long enough, if you pay attention you learn their body language and different mannerisms to watch for to know what mood they are going to be in, what ticks them off and such.

Getting things as babies and younger animals is a good first step, especially if you can go straight to cbb animals, though ch youngsters can turn out just fine too. Getting them used to interaction with people from younger ages can really have a great impact on how they will turn out and get used to handling and interaction with people, though there are some that I think never care for it and never will care for it, and that is just how it goes. Plus I would say its typically better to be dealing with smaller snakes and getting bitten by them, than large angry adult animals that can pack more of a punch when they tag you.
