alright here's the deal. I have a baby BCI that's been in a bad shed for a month. She shed in pieces, which only came off after frequent soakings, and she has still only shed her posterior half. Only now (after a month) is her head beginning to show signs of shedding around the mouth. During all of this, she has never lost her appetite and has been feeding readily. I'm going away for a few days and she hasn't eaten in over a week. I was going to feed her before I left, but with this new shedding development i don't know if I should. Should I feed her or not??! Thanks so much.

I personally dont feed from when they go into blue until after the shed. You say it has been eating regularly, so a missded week will not hurt. I would simply feed when you come back. Put a plastic container (size dependent on your snake) such as a cool whip container, lid and all in the cage. Cut a hole in the container so the snake can enter (on the lid works fine), and put a nice layer of wet (not soaking but saturated) paper towels inside. Do this before you leave and you should coem home to a hungry, shedless snake.

alrighty dude, seeing as your the only response i got, I'll take your word for it. I fashioned a (quite ingenious) humidity hide for her and removed the other hides in the cage to force her into it. She seems to be fine with it as I put her in and she hasn't moved. Thanks for the help. We'll see how it goes I guess.

some snakes eat while shedding, and yours has been shedding for a month and it's been eating, you can feed this boa. If it will eat in a shed that's OK. You need more than a humidity bin too though. This happened because you need more overall humidity in the cage too. You need to get your cage up to 60% humidity 2 or 3 times a day and this wont happen again.
