Looks like somethin

somethin outta my tackle box,i found this critter on the surface of the ground this morning in 40* weather looked like pink plastic or rubber fishin worm but has a cloaca,a mouth and possibly blinded eyes ,"my eyes are 48 y/o".what is it ? im callin it an Amel Worm Snake?

worm lizard,very interesting find!esp. considering the conditions.but i've never seen one,so i don't really know when they're most active.not actually a lizard;cool nontheless.

Not sure what it is, but it not a worm snake. they are very different looking from that thing.

Are you in Florida? It is a lizard! Caecilian? spelling? Look for 2 tiny front legs, super tiny. Cool find!

I assume you really don't know what this is. You must live in the uplands of Florida somewhere. If you look in a US herp field guide you will find it.

This is Rhineura floridana, the Florida Wormlizard. It is the one species of Amphisbaenian found in the US (confirmed, anyway).

Do a search on FL worm lizards or the genus Rhineura and you can learn all about them.

Cool critter that many of us would love to find.

As they have said it's Rhineura floridana or FL worm lizard. Where in FL did you find it?
I see a few each year and some are hit by the lawn maint. guys....
Very cool animals though.

it was in my yard (just mowed the day b4 ) cold 40*F and on surface ,maybe a veg regognizer,not nessecarilly a veg eatter.remember the big Spur Thigh(sulcata) I had cut the grass the day b4 in the sand scrub a tortoise may(LOL) smell ?
