What Rack Sytems are people using? What are the pro's and con's of these systems.

Thanks,

Nick

Well Freedom Breeder are really nice racks but I couldn't afford them. Some people don't like the fact that that aren't fully enclosed but others say it doesn't make a difference. My friend just bought the new Vision rack and he likes if very much. It have slots on the sides so you can enclose it if you want to. I personally bought RBI Pastic racks from Rich. They are really nice, heavy duty. They do weigh a lot but are fairly inexpensive compared to others. You can also stack them. They come with belly heat, ranco thermostate, tubs, and lock pins to keep the tup from being pushed out. I hope this helps.

Animal Plastics. I own 4 of them and they are great. The racks are built with attention to all the little details that usually are left out of home made racks because it takes too much time. Each shelf goes into a dado slot on the right, left, and back. The back panel fits into the top, bottom, and sides. This makes for a rigid rack. The heat cable or flex watt goes into a groove and heats the shelf. Another feature that I really like when compared to other plastic racks, they assemble and disassemble very easy and quick. This makes it easy to transport or relocate them. Great product at a very competitive price and the best customer service in the industry.

I use the vision Sterilite 15qt.
Clearview Model # 1754

I love it and use it for my hatchlings. I also suggest adding a bolt in front of each tub(there is a whole there already) to make sure they snakes aren't able to push the way out if you don't get the tub pushed all the way to the back.

We use Vision racks and love them...

They are easy to assemble, sturdy and function perfectly. I love that one rack can handle different tub sizes so that I can house adults, juvies and hatchlings all in the same rack and I didn't have to buy a separate rack for each tub size. I love that I can adjust the heat going to each level by adding or subtracting how the heat cable is routed - the cable has also cut down on my heating bill. I really love that they were hundreds of dollars cheaper than the other comparable racks that I looked at - which left more money for more snakes. And most of my concerns about exposure or heat or humidity loss turn out not to be an issue after all. Not to mention the customer service at Vision is excellent!!! I think these are great racks and perfect for the small or entry level breeder!

I haven't found any cons yet.

I see you use Johnson thermostats...I use that one too. Not sure how many people know they make quality controls at a much better price.

Dale: About the Johnson Control,Which model do you have? What do you like about it? How much do one of these rascal's cost

Hey Nick, I have the A419 model. I started with Johnson because my dad was in heat/air business and I already knew they had quality equipment, so I really can't compare to other ones. So, I guess what I like best is the price...75.00 pre-wired with 6 outlet strip. I'm sure the others have it, but it resets itself after power failure, I really like that. You can also get a night drop accessory.

If ask me I'd say homemade ones are the best!

We use home-made and a few others. I personally like homemade or Herp Enclosures. The white ones are ours and the blacks are Herp Enclosures.
