Update on non feeder.

fishkiller Nov 19, 2006 10:26 AM

Well the little guy still didn't like anything I offered.Broth, stinky day and a half old didn't get no interest either. So I tried the assist feeding, he would just keep his mouth open and spit it out. After a few times I decided to force feed. He took it as he had no choice. He didn't like it but atleast he got his first meal.Hope next time he'll just take it on the assist, hate to loose this guy, I want to see what my pair of reds are capable of producing high red offsprings like them.

Hope he turns around for you Ethan, keep us updated. Usually after they atleast get a meal in them they become a little easier to feed.

Hey Ethan,
It should be easier the next time around. I have noticed that once they get use to having food in their small bellies, that they automatically get it and start eating on their own.

Last night I went through the same thing with my first blood (picked him up at the San Jose reptile show). I tried F/T, live (fuzzy mouse and pinky rat) and nothing! So I force fed him a rat pinky, NOT happy about that! I hope he’s up for food next week.

I thought bloods feeding response was very good!?! Oh well, he’s new and I’m new to bloods.

Baby bloods can be hard to get acclumated and secure enough to eat there first meals. After that they usually have a good feeding response.Good luck w/ that new little guy.How long did you give him before you force fed him?

Probably not long enough I thought he was to skinny for a blood but I just got an e-mail from the place I got him from that said he ate a small mouse every Wednesday in a paper sack. I’ll try that next week. I hope I didn’t stress him out much
