Just had a shock...,breeding help!!

0bites Nov 19, 2006 12:36 PM

Ok, so i'm planning on breeding my two albino burms next year but seeing as they're both a reasonable size about ten minutes ago i decided to introduce them.
I don't think it went well.
I introduced the female into the males viv and they both went crazy!! No biteing but loads of twitching, shoving, hissing. The male ran and the female seemed to be seeing him off!!
I swiftly removed the female before they became too aggressive but it did seem to be getting to a biting point.
What caused this?? They are both around 10ft, i know the female is a little small but i just wanted to see what happened.
Please help

a pair. Sounds more like you have two males. Or maybe the female is NOT interested right now.

They haven't been probed in front of me but i'm fairly certain.
The female is a little too small to breed but i just wanted to see if they got on.....which they don't!
I know the next step is to get them probed but i just wanted to see if anyone else has had this reaction.
Thanks.

Its not uncommon, regardless of their sex. Same sex behaviors are usually more aggressive than oppostie sex but I've seen a few pretty aggressive opposite sex encounters.

Definitely time to have them probed and definitely not time for breeding if they are m/f. But you already knew that.

Take care!
