certainly not extinct.. just not as popular in the hobby world as their brazilian cousins. There are several people on here that have CRBs.

...I got my first CRB in 1969. The pair I have now I got in 1989 and 1991. I produced several litters of babies from them back in the 90s. There are a pair of young adults and some babies advertised for sale on the other boa classifieds right here on kingsnake.com. I thought you had a pair of adults lined up?

Dave,
...Right you are. Ricardo recently sent me a PIC of a young adult albino CRB. It retains the pattern and looks just as good as the babies.

Too bad any cool morph on damn near any snake is a billion dollars.
I dont know how manny times i've said to myself "oh man thats an awsome snake i HAVE to have one!!" then saw the price and realised there is no way in hell im spending $1000 on a snake!

Eventually the morph prices will drop as supply exceeds demand. There are already prices on Kahl albinos in the sub $1k price range. Eventually all morphs will drop in price, admittedly, the recessive and/or multiple trait morphs will always hold a higher value. I think once the prices drop below a certain point, the demand will increase and will sustain a price, then the exceptional animals will be where the "higher" prices will be. Also any "newer" morph where there is a limited qty available. The longer you wait, the lower the prices will be, also the lower the prices you'd be able to get for any babies you produce.

Yea . . sorry sub 1,000$ isnt neccesarily affordable for a college kid that just likes the hobby.
I dont even know if i want to pay the 250$ for a Suriname Redtail Boa. . .
Sorry, maybe just a personal rant, i know that most morphs are rare thus limited supply thus high price i understand, i just dont like it.

Hey, we all started out small, My BRB's started with a pair 18 years ago and remained only two for several years before I got any more. Then when we had babies, I was really hooked
Now I have dozens of snakes. In addition to those listed below in my sig file, I have 36 baby BRB's from this years production and another 3.5 BCI's for a total of 104 snakes in the house. E) Three out of five planned BCI pairings are already going at it, hope to produce some early this spring.

I have to agree with Russ, that being under a grand does not make it affordable. I am also a college student, and while I would love to have some of the snakes I see in pictures on here, it will be some time before that oppurtunity presents itself. Exercising patience has never been one of my strong points

My point was patience, just because you can't / shouldn't get your dream snakes now does not mean you never will. You have to start small and work from there. IMO, work towards getting a breedable pair. If you are successfull at breeding them, the proceeds can go towards more (or better) snakes, caging, thermostats etc.
There are a lot of things I'd love to have, but can't afford them all.

I don't plan on breeding CRBs. I have one lined up which I intend to keep as nothing more than a pet(at least for now). I was just wondering if anybody on this planet still keeps CRBs because time and time again I see posts for Brazilians, Brazilians, and even more Brazilians. Never do I see posts regarding CRBs in either boa forum. I just wanted to see who, if anybody, here actually keeps colombian rainbows. I'm not in need of any help right now (I got a caresheet off of NERD's web site). Well, actually, I guess I would like some help, but that's for another post...
