Gecko sitting

Minuet Nov 20, 2006 12:54 PM

Hi all,

Been a while since I've posted. I'm taking care of someones Leopard Gecko while she is at school, and she has been doing fine. However, this past couple of weeks, she isn't eating much. Typically, she will eat a dozen crickets a week. She's only eated 4-5 in the past couple of weeks. Do geckos slow down eating sometimes? She appears healthy, fat tail, shedding ok, moves around and curious about things.

Thanks!

Minuet

Well, leopard gecko feeding can slow down for a number of reasons:
1. Shedding- they will usually not eat just before, during and just after a shed (they eat their shed)
2. Moving- new environment usually when leopards are introduced to a new environment they can take up to 1 week or so to adjust.
3. Stress- bullying by another gecko, constant handling, too small of a container. Several factors can cause stress in leopards... including-
4. Disease- exposure to other geckos with disease or even bad food items. This is the most severe, most difficult to identify, and most difficult to correct.
5. Temperature- cooler temps will shut down a leopard geckos feeding cycle.

Can the problem be any of the above?

Hi!

Thanks for your post. Nothing has really changed, but she did shed recently. That could be it. I got some waxworms, I'm gonna try those. She loves them.

Waxworms are like candy to leopards! She should really scarf them up.

Supreme, can you e-mail me your crested pictures or something? Site seems to be broken still.

supremegecko Nov 21, 2006 06:46 AM

Andrew,
There was an issue with the files at the server last week when I introduced the site. All issues have been resolved. Could you please refresh the page (F5) when you bring it up and let me know if it still does not come up? If this doesn't work, I'll shoot you the pictures.

Thanks for your help and patience.

Can you tell me what rhymes with moon,
And can be written on a page,
Or on a rock for age on age,
This ancient letter tell me soon!

Thank you for taking a look at my site.
Young Super Hypo leopard geckos are usually striped like normals at birth and lose their minimal striping and spots as they go through their sheds. I have some that have not lost all their bands/spots but most have at this point.

Thanks again for visiting my page.

Still getting that after refreshes. When you click a picture, it gives you a 404.

That would be it then. Make sure it still eats the food it usually does.
