Baby Ring Neck Snake Help

scrufdog Aug 07, 2003 03:33 PM

Hi, I have 3 ring neck snakes, all fully grown living in a 20 gallon tank. About a month after i found them one of them laid eggs under a rock. Well the eggs have been there for a month and should be hatching in 2-3 weeks according to what i have read. What I wanted to know was will the babies be eatin by the other snakes in there? Should a section off a small section just for them or what? I dont know the sexes of the other snakes except that one is obviously a female, and one is obviously a male (the parents). I dont know what the third is though. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

If possible, seperate ALL of the snakes. Ringnecks are cannibalistic and will even eat snakes close to their own size. There have been reports of ringnecks being used as feeders where they have actually ended up killing their intended predator. One person had a moutain kingsnake and a ringneck in the same bag to look later and find a very large ringneck. I would keep all of them seperately if you wish to keep them all. Andy
