I have a 4-5 year old female red eared slider. Is there any type of turtle that I could put with her in the same tank that pretty much "stays small"? I really want a SMALL turtle. Thanks

You should keep different species in different tanks. With a RES you should keep only another RES.
A female RES is going to be a very large turtle, a smaller turtle is something she'll pick on & beat up.
Large turtles view smaller ones as food, some species are very aggressive towards different species.. then there's the problem of spreading disease. What's normal flora for one species can infect another with deadly germs.
Not a good idea to put a small turtle in with a larger turtle.
