Question 1: Why was my gecko digging in his calcium dish?

He woke me up last night doing it, I thought it was rather strange. Anyone have any experience with theirs doing this? Seems to be new behavior for him..does he want new calcium? :P

Question 2: Where can I get an enclosure to house 3 crested geckos?

Am I going to have to purchase one online? I was thinking something along the lines of 18x18x30-36 if possible, but that was just a guess. I've been searching at all the pet shops around my area, but they have nothing. Is 18x18x30 a big enough size for 1 male and 2 females? Any input would be great, thanks!

That's what the title was supposed to be.

Hi Andrew,
Two for the price of one, eh?
1. Digging in calcium- Is this a leopard doing the digging? This is what they do in nature, dig up bugs and stuff at night. They are very active at night.
2. I keep crested gecko trios in 20 high aquariums with screen tops and plenty of plants. I find these at any of the Pet Wholesaler stores for a very reasonable price. You could also look for a kritter keeper online. Be careful because male cresteds are very territorial between themselves.

And you get enough humidity control with your screen top?

I mist the enclosure about once a day/once every two days.
I also have a dish that I keep filled with water. I've seen them drink from this container several times. The cresteds are also fed CGD (Crested Gecko Diet) which I mix to a soupy consistency.

I have used 29 gallon talls with screen tops before. I went down to Lowes and got a sheet of plexiglass, which I cut in varying lengths to cover the inside channel where the screen covers. I then mist and adjust pieces of plexiglass until I find the humidity range I am looking for.
You can also use a piece of ceran wrap over the screen top to retain humidity.
Best of luck ~ Varanusjoe
