I would not suggest it. It is doable but not necessary to hibernate the animal.
How would the neighbors cat get them (given that when they hibernate they do so under water?)
Steve
this cat is like no other, its not scared of water. In the summer it mannaged to get the mesh off the side of the pond and was chasing my turtles. they were both so scared they were just hiding in the corner for 9 days they stayed. In the end i had to bring them in and put them in there tank. i am woried that if it gets in when there dead to the world there is no chance of them surviving.
OH one of those maniac cats. (Can't stand when you get those fearless ones they really do make trouble).
Well again -- I think it would be better to just set them up inside then and not hibernate them at all if that is possible.
They really don't need to be hibernated. I live in New York and I have mine outside now (several river cooters, 2 painteds and yellow belly) They have been doing fine but I am constantly monitoring them to be sure nothing is going on that will cause me to have to pull them in. Hibernating them can be a huge pain. They usually make out just fine but you do have to keep a constant vigil to make sure they are okay.
Steve
