Question for Corey Woods...........

BackBeat Nov 21, 2006 12:01 PM

Hey Corey,

Just wondering if you had better luck on your second clutch this year crossing Lesser Platinum into the Red Axanthic line? (clutch #73 - Lesser to Het Red)

I'm curious to see how Lesser and Het Red would mesh together. Should have an interesting look with the Lesser's abundance of yellow pigments and the Het Red's/Red Axanthic's virtual lack of yellow pigments.

Thanks for any info, Corey.

I did end up producing 1.2 Lesser het Red Axanthics from the second clutch. The first clutch of 8 eggs from Lesser x Red Axanthic didn't contain any Lessers however the Second clutch of 7 eggs from Lesser x Het Red Axanthic produced the cross.

Here are some pics.

Lesser Het Red Axanthic, Het Red Axanthic & Lesser (all from the same clutch)

Updated photos from last week.

The male.

One of the females.

Corey,

That little male has really "colored up"! WOW, the yellow and tan is really pushing through on him...

In the hatchling photos he almost had the coloration of an actual Red Axanthic.

I can't wait to see the Red Axanthic X Lesser and Red Axanthic Platty Daddy!

Take Care,

I really like how the two traits have meshed together.

The patterns are really nice.

Congrats on another first.

Thanks for sharing photos.

Amazing animals Corey, One question though. How come this "other" line of het reds never seem to produce red axanthics or anything else for that matter?? Inquiring minds want to know..
