CB vs. CH

Hey guys, I'm looking to buy my first blood. I own several boas(bci's, bcc's, hogg, and a bco) and I would like to add a blood to my collection. My ? is, is there a temperament difference with captive hatched vs. captive bred bloods? I understand WC bloods are not the nicest creatures, but what about captive hatch-lings from wild caught? Do captive hatched bloods from wild caught moms calm down over time??

Thanks
Brad

Brad,I like Captive Bred because they are selectively bred, for color, temperment and probably size.Captive hatched are like Farm bred. They collect the gravid females from the wild and hatch out their babies and release them back in the wild. You really don't know their genetics. You might get lucky and get a really docile blood like my big male.He was captive hatched and is puppy dogg tame.I have A captive Bred male that is super skittish and jumpy,so is his son.My big female that just layed out my clutch is nervouse and unpredictable. Her babies are the TAMEST BLOODS.Just like my big male. You never know with temperment. As far as looks go I would get C.b. because you can see the parents and more or less know what the babies would look like.Good luck. ash Lopez

Thanks for responding, I'm inclined to get a CB blood, but I guess from what I read is that basically its a crap shoot with these guys. Either you find a puppy dog tame lap blood, or crazy, flopping, biting beast. Will the majority of nippy young ones calm down over time with regular limited handling? Some are just destined to be feisty and nervous though, right?

Thanks again
Brad

I think there is no replacement for picking out your blood in person! It’s nice to be able to inspect all the babies and get a glimpse at what their temperament is like. I just got mine from reputable scores at the San Jose reptile show. Find a good dealer that will be visiting an up and coming show in your area and see it in person (unless you can go to the breeder). I’ll post the picture and let you all guess how much I paid! I got a very good deal! Waiting the extra time is nothing compared to how long you’ll have the snake so get a good one.

Just my 2 cents
