like i said it looks unique... may be paradox... i don't know how this mutation works, i'm not sure if it's random but i think it's worth putting a lil work into.

well how do i put a little work in to it? i have not bred snakes before and i am getting ready to get started. right now i am just learning about this whole breeding thing and i have and still am. anyway yes i know it unique since i got this male i was thinking to myself.. hmm why is there 2 brownish covering the 1 scale. but i like it.

well 1st step... get snakes to adulthood (which i think you got)

2nd step "Brumation" (i.e. the cooling period) take snakes off feed cool them at about 70-75 degrees in complete darkness for about 2months. ( i cool December thru February)

3rd Warm up

when i start warming my snakes i feed them heavily (i feed the females more than i do the males) after the female's 1st post brumation shed i introduce the pair... some times it takes the 2nd shed for the "magic" to happen... the one thing that scared a a bit as a new breeder was that when i introduced a female he would "fight" for a long period of time and i feared injury or death (for some reason it some times seems like a weird snake 4play? ... lol)

i some times leave the pair together for a week or so... or introduced them every 2-3days for more than one copulation ...

after you observe breeding feed her regular sized meals till she refuses them... when/if she does fed her small sized prey (i.e. from adult mice to weanling or hoppers) i even go as low as rat pinks till my females refuse food all together

it usually takes approx 30 days from breeding for her to lay her eggs... in that time you should have some idea of how to set up a lay box... thee are many different methods and mediums used, you'll need to read up and decide which is the one you'd like to use... also try to find the most suitable method for a lay box and incubation ( how big of a box, the medium to incubate in and wether you'll use natural temps or use an incubator) ... i use a home-made incubator (heated wooden box)

takes approx 60 days (give or take a few) for eggs to hatch

as far as the paradox thing... like i said i have no clue how it works... it could be recessive or just something that happens at random... if it is recessive you can take 2 approaches ...

1. keep a pair when you breed the male raise them and breed them back to each other

2. keep a female to bred back to her sire

i suggest doing both.

i think i covered the basics any other question post away...
