Best Ball/Royal python book.

bonio100 Aug 07, 2003 04:45 PM

Hi.

Ive aquired a little royal python. Shes a lovely thing, feeding, friendly (for a snake), seems happy, hiding a lot and coming out to get some extra heat.

Ive already got a milk snake, but I was wondering what actually is the 'best' book on keeping these animals?

Most of the research I did was off the internet - conflicting at best!

Thanks

Yes, that is a good book...get the new edition, 1997, which is called "The Ball Python Manual" by Philippe de Vosjolis and some other vets, I can't remember the name.

Dont buy that stupid ass book released in 1997,

AND DONT LISTEN TO KNOTTHEAD.

That's not very nice...everybody's got their own way of doing things, right? What's work for one person's doesn't necessarily works for someone else's snake, right?

Certainly the morphs change fast and even the methods change a little but it's an informative and fairly recent book. I'd be surprised if there is a better one in it's price range. I might be a little biased since Klingenberg is my vet but that was pretty harsh!

The book "The Ball Python Manual" by Philippe de Vosjolis, 1997,is a joke, its loaded with poor info and slightly outdated.

But the kid who uses a 100w light INSIDE his tank and uses a metal grate for a top seems to think the first thing he reads is the only info thats accurate.

Try this website if you haven't got the money to buy the book just yet.

That link is to a King/milk snake site.

Are you "special" or just a REAL slow learner?

are you people immature or what? Its tiring to hear you bicker every day about this crap. Just shut up already, its annoying. Stop acting like your seven, grow up and get over it, drama queens.

The person came here to ask a question and yous give nothing but grief, Im also new and would like to know the answer to this question so if you dont mind shut your mouth and let the people who HAVE a mature opinion speak.

Hello –

Probably the best place to start if you require basic husbandry information on this species in a printed format is The Ball Python Manual by Philippe de Vosjoli et al. It’s inexpensive (5 or 6 pounds) and should be readily available in the UK at shops or online.

By the way, you say that your snake is “coming out to get some extra heat.” You might consider adding an extra hiding container in that spot so your python will have both security and warmth in the same location.
