Another Shedding Question

pythonnewbie Aug 07, 2003 05:03 PM

I have had my snake for 4 days now and I just noticed she is getting ready to shed. Her eyes are cloudy and bluish and her scales are not as bright and shiney. I have read the information on various websites including Melissa Kaplans and I still have a question. My snake has a few spots on her up towards her head that look like the circular with scales are apart or something is under her skin. Is this normal before shedding? I just got her and also recently fed her so I haven't handled her much before today. Do you think something is wrong or is this part of her shed? She's got a big dish of water, plenty of humidity and she soaks quite often.
Thanks
Jessica

Well it sounds like a normal condition. I would let the snake shed out and se how the spots look after that. Its hard to know for sure what your talking about without seeing the snake, but I think it will shed and look completely normal after that. Also if a snake is soaking very often, it can be a sign of problems. Parasites, internally and externally, can make a snake want to soak more often, just be aware of that. If she is soaking more because of the shed cycle coming, it is nothing to worry about. Hope this helps,
Jason
