hey i went back to the classifieds to see what the date was and its gone. i talked to the guy yesterday and he is willing to trade a pair of bearded dragons for her. she is absolutely beautiful and he says she is tame. what is an ornate banded iguana? he says they are not fully herbivors like the cyclura but more carnivorous too. is it a ctenosaura of some kind. i know nothing about them. do you think it is worth it? he was asking $300 for her. she is pretty big. i can get you guys his email address if you want to email him for a pic of her. thanks for the help.

Hey, I remember seeing that add. The pic was of a cten. similis. It was a really nice looking animal, but I've never heard them called ornate iguanas before. Mark, you the man, have you heard this before?

Yeah, I saw the ad also. The slang terms we throw at animals is amazing. It was a C. similus probably from the Yucatan or even a S.Florida wild population raised up. It was nice looking. $300 for a similus???????????

yeah i decided not to go with her. she is back up in the classifieds if anyone is interested in seeing a "ornate banded iguana"

Mark M Aug 09, 2003 03:28 AM

That is a very nice similis, but $300 is a little steep.

I believe the "her" is a him. Going by the photo.

.. kind of like the helmeted iguana name used to move a non-iguana related species.
