Bad shed

kaysie Nov 22, 2006 12:56 PM

Try as I might, even with soaking and super-high humidity, my rescued female just won't shed properly.

She got most of it off, in flakes this time.

Has anyone ever used baby oil to help remove retained shed?

How long have you had her? It took my first rescued BP a few sheds (and a lot of feeding) before he finally was able to get it all off in one piece.... Might be more to it than just humidity and soaking.

The whole shed doesn't always have to completely come off. If you keep the humidity up, do soaks, next time the shed will come off with the new shed and you should be fine. Just make sure you never try to force or "take off" the remaining shed.. I don't want to get into the horror stories =/
