2 Sick boas

brian67 Nov 22, 2006 02:09 PM

Here I go agian. I rescued two 5 foot boas today only to get them home and find both with mucus coming from there mouths. I still have medicine left over from the rescue burm that didn't make it. (she was to far gone, but we tried) Do I need to raise the heat and humidity for them like I did for the burm? Never had sick boas before. BTW What in the Hell is wrong with people? For christ sake if you don't want the animal don't neglect it, find it a new home! Sorry guys I just had to vent that last part. My last two rescues have been sick snakes.

Its probably a good idea to up the temp and humidity, but I would take them to a vet before medicating. You're going to want to know evactly whats going on with them, and get fresh antibiotics, and you'll need proper dosage.

and to answer the second part, its because snakes look cute when they are small, the novlty of feeding wears out and people are stupid.

Bring their entire encloser up to 95-97 and provide fresh water,no need to worry about humidity unless you get under 45%.They will drink if they want it.
Plan on leaveing them like this for 2 weeks.Improvements should be seen with-in 9-11 days.If their not better by the end of the 2 weeks then haul them to the Doc.The trick is to "cook" the moisture out of their lungs and this method has been proven by many, for many years.
Be patient and it will work !
