Greg, my understanding is the Ruppel and Stonewashed Pastels are the same thing. It is also my understanding that a Stonewashed Pastel will NOT just reproduce Stonewashed Pastels, that some just produce run of the mill Pastels. Basically, my understanding is there is no guarantee to produce Stonewashed Pastels from a Stonewashed Pastel. Ruppel line = Stonewashed.
I could be wrong, but I have heard that from a few posts on KS awhile back.
Ember Ball, you are correct! I originally used the stonewashed name, but then everyone else began to use the term for completely unrelated animals with even a hint of blushing, so I changed the name......you are also right that they are variable in what they produce......about half are absolutely ridiculous, while others are very average......I am ecstatic about how the "1/2 Ruppel Super" turned out though! My #1 Male was bred to a muddy looking pastel female and still produced a super that was unbelievable white and washed out.....I cant wait to breed him to his half sister next season to see how it turns out!
Stan, is the Stonewashed look random, or does it occur in a genetic type fashion? If you breed a Pastel to a normal, you get theoretically 50% Pastels. If you breed a Ruppels to a normal, do you get 50% normals, 25% Ruppels, and 25% normal Pastels, or is the stonewashed look simply a random occurance?
