Colombian Rainbow Cage setup

coluberking25 Nov 22, 2006 08:02 PM

Ok I figured out the rainbow I am acquiring is being housed in a 30 gallon. Well I don't know why but for some odd reason, he won't let me have the cage so I will have to buy my own 30 gallon. Well, my question is this: will I be able to make a naturalistic setup with a 30 gallon? Thanks in advance.

youd do best to stay away from the naturlistic route.

go to www.herpcages.com

they have some you can get a really nice size cage for 150$

for your rainbow boa, only thing youll need is a hide box, good size water bowl (kitty litter pan) some newspaper an dmabye a decorative branch or something.

seriously. it will look nicer and be better for teh snake than a 30 gallon tank.

Seriously, how on earth can you keep a beautiful snake such as a rainbow boa in the typical and simple snake set up and enjoy it!?! It completely defeats the purpose of keeping it as a pet. I want to pamper this guy/girl, not bore him/her to death by having nothing to do but look at a cardboard hidebox or half log all day, as well as a water dish. Besides, due to the fact that snakes have a knack for destroying plants, I decided to go with plastic.

Oh, and as for the cage size, I only have so much room to work with right now. The snake is also 3-4 feet long, not full size yet. I do have plans toconstruct a nice big enclosure, but that will take some time because I am in college.

Oh and another question. Is it ok to place a rainbow boa enclosure in a living room? I believe it isn't because rainbow boas, like all snakes, want privacy and a busy room won't make it feel very comfortable. But if there's anyone who hasn't had problems, I would really like to know who you people are. Thanks in advance.
