In reference to being a grasshopper(lol)

I have been working on breeding several of the herps I keep. I have some fat tails, and now I have Grace, my female BRB. Unfortunately it will be several more months, if not next year or longer in Grace's case, before I can even think about actually breeding them. My concern though, is that if i do breed them, I won't be able to find homes for all the offspring, I mean, i could probably give them away, but that would really defeat the purpose. I have thought about setting up a table at a show, but I have seen a lot of vendors sit there all day and sell very few of their snakes. Do you all have any advice as far as that goes? What is the best way to market your offspring if you are just getting into the hobby? Thanks.

to seek the wisdom of others. Remember though, not all of the advice of others will work for you. The real wisdom comes in deciding which advice to follow. E)

There are several options for marketing offspring.

KS classifieds work very well, you will have to work out shipping methods and costs.

Smaller local shows can be fairly inexpensive to rent a space, yes the sales volumes are not always great but also allows you to contact other vendors.

Local herp societies.

You can also wholesale to vendors/dealers.

Website.

I'm sure there are more.

Remember, no matter which option(s) you choose to persue, in the long run a good reputation is hard to beat.

Although I have had only two litters consisting of a total of 27 offspring, i had no trouble gettting rid of my brazilians, maybe i was just lucky, I did one show in hamburg per litter and what I didnt sell at the show I sold to a vendor at a very fair price, I sold most for 100 apiece (show price was 125, sorry I didnt think I was undercutting, mine where even nicer no less, what I didnt sell I sold for 65-75 (graded) to another vendor and he greedily grabbed them up.

IMO they are easier to get rid of other snakes I have breed IE Burms and regular retics.

Im a hobbyist (but may start a small business someday as a hobby LOL)
