Fire Iguana

metalmistress3 Nov 24, 2006 03:40 AM

Ever since I saw a picture of a red "fire" Iguana posted on this forum...I fell in love. They are the most beautiful lizards I've ever seen. I already have one iguana "Ziggy". But I have two huge outside cages...so I'm thinking of getting another iguana.
I've been looking all over for this so-called Fire Iguana, can't find one anywhere....can anyone help?

I have seen them a few times. Most I have seen are at petco. I am actuakky thinking of buying one as well. They are exactly the same as a green iguana just a different color morph. I also saw one one the classifieds for like $200. At petco they were like $130. Hope this helps

yeah honestly i thought it was a fake
cuz they were still like a green iguana underneath their belly

i was wondering how they dyed the iguana
but yeah, petco about $100ish

omg, i wonder what they look like full grown!!!!!

Theres a baby one in my local PETCO but I'm in northern california so I don't know if that helps you any.
He's going for $160 or around there.

Dont buy it. Really. They look just like males during the breeding season, just all year. Not worth the money. Plus, its from petco! Not the greatest store int the world. If you really want an iguana, buy the Ultimate Iguana Owner's Manual by James Hatfeild(I think thats the name) and adopt from a reptile-oriented rescue. No offense meant to red iguana owners out there. Cheers!

PLEASE DO NOT BUY FROM PETCO! They do not know how to house or handle iguanas and their corprate refuses to do anything about it! I got my red iguana from them and had to take it to the vet for amputations of his toe and tail; I have heard stories of others that had to do the same for various limbs of the poor lizards. If you buy from them you are supporting their ignorance and mal-treatment of iguanas.
this was his toe when we got him, I can't find any of his tail at the moment:
