Heating Question

chili_con_parmi Nov 24, 2006 04:01 AM

Hello,

At the moment I heat my Boas cage with a 40watt yellow coloured bulb. It gets the basking spot up to 32 degrees Celsius /90 Fahrenheit and the cooler end is 29 degrees Celsius /84 Fahrenhiet. I think these levels are ok, my question is a night I dont want to just unplug the lamp because it would get really cold, would using a termostat and lowering the temp at night work even with the light on, as in, would the light bother the snake at night?

You really need an undertank heater to leave on 24 / 7 for constant heat for your snake. You should be able to purchase one from your local pet store, or an online reptile store such as The Bean Farm, or LLL Animal Supplies. Personally, I feel that an undertank heater is a necessity. Sharon
