Here is a little bit of history: Dog finds rattlesnake in backyard.. Bites rattlesnake in half, snake in return bites yorkie...5-10 mintues later dog is comatose and non responsive... brought to the emergency clinic given 2 vials of wyeth... discharged 12 hours later to care of our hospital... DOG IS VERY VERY ATAXIC all neuro signs present when I asked the Owner to present the snake due to growing concerns of more AV the owner brought in this sample..

Bite happened in Rio Verde area of Az.
3 possibilities as I see it

1) Pure Atrox
2)Pure Scute
3)Mixture of both... My guess

my guess due to markings is 1-3 generation hybrid
Tail is definately Atrox coon
Head shape looks very similar to scute
Upper pattern is mix but heavy atrox
Lower pattern fades like typical scute

Please provide input

Couldn't view the pic at the link you posted. I created an account and logged in, but it said album unavailable.

I could not see the pic either. Going from your description: Both have the "coontail", but C.S. has black bands that are considerably narrower than the white. Main key seems to be the postocular stripe. In C.s., it passes above the corner of the mouth, in C.a., it reaches the mouth in front of the back corner. Either way, I would say if the dog is displaying neuro or cytotoxic symptoms, continue antivenin, although I am not sure how effective Wyeth is against scutulatus. I wish you well in the fight.

hmm, doesn't look any thing close to a pure atrox to me. Looks like a hybrid.
