Gaboon macro and update

Kestrel Nov 24, 2006 05:27 PM

Just wanted to post that the juvie Gaboon I posted about last month is doing great now. I lowered the temp and have been keeping it 86 over the heat tape, and put her on papertowels. Soaked her then cleaned out her mouth and nostrils real well with some Q tips and she hasn't been gargley since. Back to eating her jumbo mice.

Good luck with the gabby, she really is a looker. If you don't mind, what camera are you using? I'm looking at getting a dslr (new canon rebel xti) and always like to see what others with quality shots are using. Thanks for the help.

This was indeed taken with the Canon XTi, and a Tamron 90mm macro lens. My boyfriend bought it for me as an early christmas present. An upgrade from my previous original Rebel. Its a d@mn nice camera. I love it. The color profiles are AWESOME. I'm also a huge fan of the monochrome and sepia filters.

Thank you very much. Now I'm really excited about getting the camera.

That's great to hear....such a nice looking gaboon. Sometimes, just making small changes to the environments pays big dividends. nice job.
