What kind of King am I

kcoleman Nov 24, 2006 08:12 PM

Can anyone help me with this King. It was a rescue, and I think it is an Aberrant Cal king. Its the light spots mixed in the dark area that throws me off. Anyone else have a guess??? Thanks

PS: Isn’t the skull shape on his head cool

It is definetely a cal king hybrid. Looks like a king x corn hybrid to me. I think they call them jungle corns of super corns or something. The Pituophis hybrids I have seen all have more color.

like this one. (not my pic)

Awfully similar dorsal blotches, though, don't you think? And wouldn't the amount of color or lack thereof depend upon the Pit ssp. bred w/ the king. Even within the same Gopher ssp. there is an incredible variability depending on the snakes' locale. Take P. c. deserticola for instance.
