New pic (long overdue) of a snake I don't often photograph...

Yasser May 20, 2003 06:34 PM

This is our striped Southern Scrub aptly named "Stripe".
It was the only name that ever really stuck because well...she's striped. She just got bumped up into a big nice spacious cage so I had to take a few pics. Her last cage was smaller and somwhat low so it used to be hard for me to get in there and get the best angles. Eventually she will be bred to our hypo male and that will be the makings of quite possibly the greatest morph project ever in the world of scrubs
(hypo stripeds)...at least until an albino is found. But it all could be nothing too. The reason I specified "morph project" is that there is plenty of projects to do as far as just getting scrubs to reproduce let alone try to infuse proper genetics to produce morphs. There's still Halmas and Arus to be hatched and we could all use more Tanimbars and Barnecks...and you can't forget the Boelen's.Last I checked, everyone and their grandma wanted CB Boelens. Myself included of course!Anyway...
Hope ya like.

Wow, what a beautiful scrub...now all we need are some pictures of the xthanic and axthanic moluccans. Thanks a lot for the pics...don't let us down, we need more to feed our scrub addiction, it's worse than crack.

...the beauty of this animal.
This is our absolute bestest Barneck in our collection right now. It's a male Sorong locale. We have a very nice mate for him that has the same color intensity but not the defined black markings. This pairing will go down next year. Both are young but they make be able to squeak out a clutch. This guy is around 7.5-8 feet and the female is easily 10 feet.

Yeah, if you don't look at the head and with a little less iridesence on the body, that scrub would make a beautiful Irian Jaya Carpet. Thanks for the pics...you're right I did enjoy them

...but I want to make sure it's in writing. I absolutely, positively am first in line for babies from those Sorongs... if not, well, Yasser, think about it... you've never seen me upset. You wouldn't like me when I get upset.

P.S. Yes, that is a threat.

'scuse the blurry pic' but I thought you might be interested in this little guy. He's three years old and weighs 410 gms (he's an awful feeder. He loves striking and nothing else in life).
Anyway, this little chap has sired my clutch of 14 good eggs.
Who says size is important?

These snakes can do anything...the greatest overachievers of the python world!
Males can be fertile at less than 7 feet but to have a 7 foot female lay is pretty tough on the other hand.
Congrats again on your clutch! Ours are due in about three weeks. Our Southerns are due in about a week! Fun stuff!

Oh, Yasser - that looks EXACTLY like the lovely male I had until a couple years ago. He was about 7', and tame, tame, tame. Same coloring, same vivid markings, same everything. You had helped me ID him back then, as I was still learning about these awesome pythons. He died suddenly when exposed to another scrub - never did figure that out. I miss my scrubs, they were the absolute most intelligent snakes I've ever handled. And the velvety feeling of their skin is incomparable. (The 2nd scrub died suddenly after eating a rabbit - another rabbit from the same batch later was eaten by a Burmese that died, so I think it was the rabbits that killed them both.) Drat.....
