i'm thinking about getting a red tail boa. i've already read almost everything i could find, but i don't know how fast they grow, and about how big will a red tail be at 1 year. thanks for any information

It depends on the type/locale of the snake, and to an extent also depends on the way you feed it, and after all that, each snake can grow at a different rate.
My female BCI ('common' boa constrictor) hypo who is about 18 months old is a little over 3 feet long and a little over an inch in diameter at her thickest part. I feed her one prey item that is about as big around as she is, every 7 - 10 days and have had her on that schedule since I got her (not feeding her when she is in shed).
My hog island boa female, however, at the same age, was much smaller.
BCC ("true" red tails) will grow larger over time but tend to grow SLOWER.
I'm sure people that powerfeed or overfeed their snakes can get a lot MORE growth within the first year, but growth should attempted to be stunted by withholding food.
