jackson eye problem

kblue Nov 25, 2006 07:26 PM

I have a male jackson chameleon that I keep outside. I have noticed that he is rubbing his eye on a branch. I've only noticed him doing this a few times. I haven't noticed anything around or in his eye. Does anyone have any experience with eye problems? I would appreciate any info. or feedback.

Hi,
The behavior you are noticing is the way in which chameleon's clean their eyes. Often, this happens after you mist the chameleon because the water helps them in this process. This behavior by itself is normal. If your chameleon starts to keep his eye closed for the better part of the day, the area looks infected, etc. than you may need to take action.
