Beautiful snakes Todd. That MSP thayeri from Chris is a beauty. I just picked up a new thayeri myself, from Russ. Now I'd like to pick up a nice female MSP thayeri to pair up with my leonis male down the road. Your female is what I call a picture perfect MSP thayeri. I love it.

I love the holbrooki. Interesting and w/ a little work a very rewarding snake. I like how they slightly vary depending on locale. Yours is from East TX, right? How big was she when you found her? Certainly are slow growers aren't they.

Thanks Steve and Reako, I also acquired a nice little yellow leonis female as well to complete a trio. My buckskin male will be sooooo happy in 09 I hope! Yeah, the speck is from the southern end of their range, Calhoun county, Texas and were from a clutch of eggs I found last year. Found 9 eggs, 5 were already eaten by bugs, hatched 2.2. They are one of the smallest snakes I have ever seen out of the egg and just now had a tremendous growth spurt. A little work but they went right to pinks. Had a little regurge problem with the male early on and the female passed him up big time, he is slowly catching up.

Wow what a score! You actually found a clutch of eggs in the field. I've found gravid female Easterns, but never a clutch of eggs. That had to be a rush! Thanks.

yeah, it was my first and I've only been doing this 35 years! I knew that they were snake eggs and suspected they were speckled king eggs but had to wait it out as they could have been Texas rat eggs for all I knew! It was a rush, and a great experience, but I don't think I will keep a clutch again if found, but record the data and check on them a month later. It would be cool to see the if the neos disperse immediately or hang around. Maybe throw some extra a.c. around to help them stay hidden. These are the 1.1 I kept.
