Pueblan Milksnake Feeding

mysneakysnake Nov 26, 2006 10:16 AM

I got a pueblan at the fire show. She ate a ft pinky almost a week or so after the fire show( I put her in a paperbag during feeding). I tried to feed her the following week with a ft large pinky with the same method. She began eating it, but unfortunately, I think I checked her progress too often, and she got spooked and spit the large pinky out....now I can't get her to eat anything....are pueblan milks just more nervous than corns and kings?

Anybody have any ideas?

This seems like one for a milksnake forum, but yes, pueblan milks tend to be a little jumpy.

I didn't see there was a milksnake forum when I posted that....

There are a lotta small links...it's kind of like Craig's List.

One of the most important things you can do when establishing hatchlings is to get them on a regular feeding schedule. It would be best to leave the snake undisturbed overnight with the pinky. By checking on it too frequently while feeding, you create negative reinforcement for the snake to eat. My suggestion would be to wait a week after the last unsuccessful attempt and them leave the snake alone overnight with the food item.
