little CLEAR bugs

snakes129 Nov 26, 2006 10:52 AM

I understand mites are black but I noticed some little critters that are clear in color on a water bowl. Are these dust mites from the aspen bedding? There were no black mites found at all.

Any suggestions?

I have never heard of any bugs in Aspen. I would keep an eye on these. You might be seeing just hatched mites that have not yet filled with blood. Just keep watching the water bowl for black mites.

Their wood mites and or wood avids, harmless to your animals.
Recently they have been found in lesser quality aspen and birch multch.Their also reported in small mammal(rodent)mixs sold in top pet chain stores. One blast from your favorite mite solution will knock them down.
