Just stop feeding end of october and two weeks later start dropping your temps. They will notice the change.
I put one male in with three females when I start the temp drop and keep them together for a few weeks.
If after a few weeks you see no activity the seperate for three days and them put back together. I do this three day routine till I see activity....usually the second or third time doing this they start breeding. All my guys start going three weeks after cool down starts and continue till febuary.

Temps high 84 and low 77
I spray (very fine spray) warm water daily.
Last year the temps were 82 and 73.....they started breeding so I stopped lowering the temps to my last years low.

I am confused...do you mean cycling temps? I thought maybe you were refering to the females seeking the cool side of the tank indicating the possible start of follicle formation. I have had three lock ups and two of the females are balled up as far away from the heat as possible. I start early, but last year I noticed the behavior change late November!
